- מַעְבַּרְתָּאch. sam(מעברה the place of crossing.), 1) crossing, ferry, ford. Y.Taan.IV, 68c, sq.B. Bath.73a Ms. F., v. מַרְבַּעְתָּא. 2) מ׳ (בדיקנא) a parted beard (perh. = מַעְבָּר, pronged like a fork). Snh.100b. 3) מ׳ (דתפלין) the hollow rim of the capsule of the Tfillin of the arm through which the thong is slipped. Men.35a.
